Wednesday

So yesterday at the helpdesk was kind of a slow day. We didn't have very many customers at the circulation desk and it went by very slowly. Sarah and I reimaged a few computers, but that was about it !

Tuesdayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy

Today I spent my hour rushing around the help desk...well not really...I just spent my hour learning how to change a hard drive and then re imaging computers (again). It was cool to be able to change a hard drive after seeing it done so many times. We all learn sometime! After I re-imaged a few computers and changed out the hard drive of one computer, I went to the circulation desk and tried to help Robin as best as I could. I tried to help with diagnosing a mouse pad problem and then helping on taking money from a girl who used the copy machine. All in all today's class went by pretty quickly because I had so much to do!

Yesterdayyy

So, I forgot to blog yesterday because I got swept up in what I was doing. Usually, it's not difficult to re-image a computer, especially when that's all you've been doing for the last few weeks. However, yesterday, I was having some issues. It took me forever and a year to remember how to re-image a computer. I blame it on the fact that the super-bowl was the day before and it was EPIC. Just sayin'.

Google Day

So, being that I've been working down in the circulation desk with Robin, I haven't got a clue what "google day" is, but apparently that's my assignment. So today, I spent my class period finally figuring out these hard logic puzzles, and doing random nonsense (such as helping a freshman learn how to back up). Oh and I googled random things.

One thing that came to (Robin's) mind was "How does google decide what picture to put on the cute little google sign"

SO we decided to google this little piece of information...harder to find it than we though. BUT ! We found this cute little information: Doodle for Google

^Then I spent the rest of my class period going over the doodles for google.

Yesterday

So, I'm a little late on blogging on yesterdays events, but hey, better late than never!

So yesterday I began the class period re-imaging computers. What a fun task. Then we had a few girls come to the help desk, so I had to help them...scary thought...

The first thing I did was give a girl a new battery. Then I had another girl come and I had to run a software on her computer to make her fan quieter. The next girl that came up had one of her keys missing, so I replaced her keyboard...pretty much by myself...that was interesting. But hey, when all was said and done, it was fixed!

After all the girls were gone, I learned how to write a ticket for someone when their computer comes into the helpdesk.

All in all, I would say that yesterday was an eventful day!

Today, I spent my class period going through the Toshiba Loaners and making sure that all of these things work. It wasn't difficult, but it kept me busy and learning for the class period. We went through about 15 loaners and out of them, only 8 were perfectly working.

Help! (desk)

So today was my first actual day of interning in the help desk. Oh boy. Here goes nothing!

So the first thing I did when I got there was to try and diagnose a computer that was having writing problems. Well after messing with it for about 20 minutes I discovered that it was her pen having the problem, not her computer. After being show how to do a work order I quickly jumped to the task.

The next thing that I was asked to do was to reimage a computer. This was a task. I learnt kind of quickly on how to reimage it and set it back up. It was easy to wipe it clean but a little bit more difficult to try and set it back up again. I have a feeling that it'll get easier as it goes!
